The European F-Gas Regulation is an important piece of legislation. It supports a reduction in overall greenhouse gas emissions. The Regulation, which came into force in July 2006, recognises the value of HFCs and reinforces the view that a system based on containment can help Europe to meet its environmental commitments under the Kyoto Protocol.
A key industry priority is to continue to invest in improved HFC systems. To drive forward progress and reduce emissions of all greenhouse gases, its objectives must be to improve containment, system design, energy efficiency as well as effective recovery, reuse and safe recycling.
We are using our extensive knowledge and experience of refrigerants gained over many years to ensure these changes are introduced with minimum disruption to our customers' business. Our role is to manufacture and deliver high quality products that provide a seamless transition to sustainable refrigeration within the current legislative framework. Our programme to develop and evaluate efficient lower GWP refrigerant options supports this.
A major review of the F-Gas regulation, focused on reducing Global Warming Impact of F-gases, is currently underway with a revised F-Gas Regulation expected soon.
